Protein is the most important nutrient required for our body. 20% of our body weight consists of protein.Each 5 kg of our body weight contains 1 kilogram of protein.Totally our body requires 22 amino acids. Out of that 22 amino acids, our body can produce 13 amino acids by itself.

Our body demands remaining 9 amino acids mainly, we are getting that from proteins.We are going to see the functions and sources of protein.

Structural Functions of our Body

Our body mainly comprised of proteins. Each and every cell contains proteins. Protein plays many important roles in our body, including providing structure, Metabolism regulation, Hormonal balance. It also plays an important role to regenerate new cells.

Our hair is made up of Protein. It is in the form of keratin in your hair. Regular intake of protein will produce more keratin which promotes your hair growth. Even your hair fall also completely reduce if you consume enough protein.

Cheese, Milk, Nuts, Soybeans, Chickpeas, Almonds, Peanuts, Peas, Drumstick Leaves, Tofu,  Wheat, Ragi etc.

Non-Vegetarian Sources

Eggs, Fishes, Pork, Beef, Lamb, Prawn, Chicken etc. All types of Meats are rich in proteins. So you need to take more proteins. The recommended amount of protein for us is given. We need to consume 1 gram of protein per kilogram of our body weight.
